Ap Testing Centers 2022
Selecting your AP testing center is crucial. When selecting your test center, it is preferable to choose one that is close to your home, unless you are taking the test at your high school. Choosing a close testing center will act as a buffer in case you come across any transportation issues on test day.
If you are taking the test in the U.S. and allied territories, it is most likely that your high school administers it. If you are homeschooled, you can reach out to AP services at 888-225-5427 or email them using an online form to connect with your AP coordinator to choose your AP testing center.
It is advised to reach your testing center at least 30 minutes before the start of your exam to avoid last minute struggles. Reaching the testing center early will also help the test administrators at your test center arrange and finalize your AP exam accommodations if applicable. There are specific rules and regulations set up by the College Board to ensure a smooth testing experience for all students. If you want to learn more about the Dos and Donts while at your AP test center or request special accommodations, you can find detailed info on our AP exam policies and accommodations page.

What Are Ap Tests What’s The Point Of Taking Them
AP Tests take place at the end of AP classes, and they’re used as a means of assessing how much you learned in the class and whether your experience merits college credit. You can also prepare for AP Tests independently outside of the course if you don’t feel totally comfortable with the material after going over it in class.
Essentially, AP Tests are a standardized way of validating your course record. They’re a measure used to control for poorly taught AP classes where students earn As but don’t actually know the material. Although AP curriculum is supposed to be consistent at every school, teachers have a lot of freedom in how they teach the subject and grade the class. AP Tests help to ensure that students have actually learned and absorbed the information and deserve the appropriate credit.
You can earn college credits for high AP Test scores at most schools, and your scores may also help you to place out of introductory classes. Doing well on AP tests can mean finishing college early or avoiding college classes in subjects that are repetitive for you. In the next section, I’ll get into more specifics about the grading scale for AP tests and how some of the most popular tests are structured.

Im Homeschooled/my School Doesnt Administer Ap Exams How Can I Take An Ap Exam
If youre homeschooled or you go to a school that doesnt administer AP Exams, youll need to arrange to take exams at a local school that does administer them.
Your first step is to search the AP Course Ledger. The AP Course Ledger is the official, up-to-date, comprehensive list of schools that have passed the AP Course Audit. You can search by country, state/province, or city to find a school where you might be able to test. After finding schools near you that offer the courses you want to take exams for, do an internet search for the schools phone number. Then call and ask to speak with the schools AP coordinator to learn if the school is allowing homeschooled students to test there this year.
Look for and contact schools as early in the school year as possible. Note that schools may have their own local deadlines and policies for receiving requests from outside students to test at their school, so youll want to give yourself as much time as possible to contact schools. Updates will be made to the AP Course Ledger for 2022-23 in November, so if you still need to find possible schools, you can check the Ledger again in November to see if any schools in your area were added. The exam ordering deadline for schools is November 15.
When you find an AP coordinator able to administer your AP Exam, they are responsible for ordering your exam materials, telling you when and where to report for the exams, and collecting the exam fees.

Students taking digital exams will not be asked to draw or graph as part of their responserather, these skills will be assessed with questions containing graphs or other stimuli. The digital exam app will include any symbols students would need to type their responses. No handwritten or photographed work will be required or accepted.
It is important to note that some exams have different formats for paper and digital forms, and the differences vary by exam, such as a change in the number of free response questions and multiple-choice questions, different time allocation for each section, etc. Refer to the chart published by the College Board in 2021 to know in detail about the exam administration modes and differences, if any, in exam format, for each course.

Who Is Eligible To Take The Ap Exam
High school students around the world can take AP exams. If you are in a high school that is offering AP classes, you can enroll in the class and take the exams. Most students take AP exams starting from 10th grade. In some cases, students take AP tests even during 9th grade, however, this is not typically recommended due to the lack of preparation of students to tackle college-level courses at this age.
A question often asked by students is whether it is necessary to enroll in AP classes in order to take the exam. The answer is NO. You can take the AP exam even if you are self-studying for it. This means that homeschoolers can also take the AP exam!
You can start by searching the AP Course Ledger on the College Board website to find schools near you that offer AP courses and administer AP exams. Remember to shortlist more than one school in and around your area from the catalog. Once you have the schools shortlisted, reach out to their respective AP coordinators prior to November 15 to inquire if they are offering AP exams for homeschooled students for that year. The AP coordinator is responsible for ordering your exam materials, telling you when and where to report for the exams, and collecting the exam fees.
