What Is The Process For Seeking Nonstandard Testing Accommodations
The Iowa Board of Law Examiners is committed to providing reasonable testing accommodations consistent with state and federal law. Reasonable accommodations are those adjustments or modifications of the standard testing conditions that ameliorate the impact of the applicant’s disability on the examination process without fundamentally altering the nature of the exam, imposing an undue administrative or financial burden on the Board, compromising the security, validity or reliability of the exam, or providing an unfair advantage to the applicant with the disability.
Applicants seeking testing accommodations for a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act must file the ELIGIBILITY QUESTIONNAIRE FOR TESTING ACCOMMODATIONS along with other form and all supporting documentation appropriate for the disability. The burden of proof is on the applicant to show the need for any additional testing considerations. You must prove that your condition has substantially impaired a major life activity as compared to the general population and that the requested accommodation is reasonably designed to ameliorate the impact of the disability.
The Board of Law Examiners reserves the right to request supplemental information from the applicant regarding the claimed disability or suggested accommodations including, but not limited to, additional expert examinations and/or reports.
States With No Limits
Most states and US territories dont have limits on the number of times you can take the bar exam. Even if youve failed nine times, you can keep on trying. These states are home to some of the best lawyers, so the amount of times the bar is taken does not reflect a states legal prowess. For example, to settle any negative stigma surrounding states with no exam limits, California is home to the highest-paid lawyers in the US, with a median income of $171,550.
Which States Allow Unlimited Bar Exam Attempts
The following states and territories give you an unlimited number of attempts to pass the bar exam:
- Northern Mariana Islands
If you plan to take the bar exam in one of these states or territories, then you can rest a little bit easier knowing you can fail and still have a shot at being a lawyer. Many people cant properly study for the bar without taking the official test first.
In this way, you can prepare for your real attempt after you get your initial one out of the way.

What Is The Massachusetts Law Component
The MLC is a separate examination on Massachusetts-specific law.
Examinees will have access to the MLC and the corresponding outlines through the Bar Applicant Portal.
It is strongly recommended that examinees complete the MLC after sitting for the bar examination. The deadline to complete the MLC is September 30 for the July bar examination and March 31 for the February bar examination.
The MLC consists of 50 multiple choice questions regarding 10 areas of Massachusetts law.
The MLC is an open book, online examination.
Applicants must correctly answer 40 out of 50 questions. Unsuccessful examinees may retake the MLC after a 24-hour waiting period.
There are no fees associated with the MLC, no limits on the number of times an examinee may attempt the MLC, and examinees receive their results instantly upon submitting the exam.

How Long Is The Cpa Exam
The CPA Exam is made up of four sections and each section includes four hours of testing time and one hour of time for administration and security. The exam is offered in multiple testing windows around the year, and scores only remain valid for 18 months.
In other words, the CPA Exam is a long exam, and this time investment makes every aspect of it that much harder.
The time invested into the CPA Exam will come in two main chunks: studying for the exam and taking the exam.
Time spent studying for the CPA Exam
Studying for the CPA Exam is a time-consuming process. Every candidates experience will be different. Weve seen candidates pass with as little as 80 hours of study time per section, and weve seen others need 180. The study time you need can be influenced by factors such as how familiar you are with the material, how long its been since you earned your degree, and how long ago you last studied for a serious exam. Ultimately, planning your study schedule is just another aspect of the difficulty of the CPA Exam. If you invest too little time, you risk poorly covering key topics. Invest too much, and you could begin forgetting topics covered near the beginning of your studies.
Sample Cpa Exam Questions
These CPA Exam sample questions demonstrate some of the range in difficulty that these skill levels test.
Only AUD will test you at the Evaluation level, but all of the exam sections will test you at the Analysis level.
While each section of the CPA Exam has its own content areas and topics, they are divided into similar testlets. The 5 testlets are made up of multiple-choice questions and task-based simulations. BEC contains written communications in addition to task-based simulations.

Different types of questions
The AICPA uses different types of questions to test its material. To ensure your success on the CPA Exam, youll need to have experience with each type of question prior to sitting for the exam.
Multiple-choice questions
On the CPA Exam, multiple-choice questions contain a question stem and four answer choices. Three of the answer choices are known as distractors. These are tricky because they are based on common errors or misconceptions. The correct answer will be the best response to the question stem.
Task-based simulations
Task-based simulations are designed to mimic common tasks that accountants face. These include preparing journal entries, correcting memos or emails, researching regulations and laws, and collecting data from different sources.
Many TBSs will require you to use different exhibits provided in the simulation to collect the data needed to complete a given task.

What Is The Hardest Part Of The Cpa Exam
The hardest topic on the CPA Exam is going to vary depending on your background. While many candidates find government accounting to be the most difficult, you may consider property transactions or consolidated entities to be the most challenging, for example.
Ultimately, it isnt any one topic that makes the CPA Exam difficultits the sheer scope of the exam in its entirety. The CPA Exam has 18 content areas divided into four sections. Within those content areas are approximately 600 representative tasks. Each task represents a key knowledge or skill required of CPAs, and these tasks are judged at different difficulties.
Complex structure
The four sections have their own content areas, and each content area makes up a different percentage of that sections exam. While some sections have more content areas than others, the number of content areas does not directly match the number of topics a section covers. For instance, BEC has 5 content areas but only around 70 tasks, whereas FAR has 4 content areas and nearly 200 tasks.
THE SOLUTION
Gleim CPA Review takes all the guess work out of the representative tasks.
Each question and simulation in our test bank has been crafted to test different tasks at their respective knowledge levels. And our SmartAdapt technology will monitor your progress on each of these content areas and ensure you see the materials you need to see to be prepared on exam day.

How Many Times Can You Take The Bar Exam In Texas
You may take the Bar Exam a maximum of 5 times. If you sit for any part of an exam, it will count as one of your 5 attempts. However, unless you make a bona fide effort to complete each section of the exam, we will not grade any part of the exam, and if you want to take a future exam, you must submit a re-application and fees by the applicable deadline in Rule 9.
How Time Makes The Cpa Exam Hard
The CPA Exam has two time limits, and both affect the difficulty of the exam. The first time limit you will face is the four-hour duration of each sections exam. After you pass your first section, youll encounter the second time limit: the 18 months your passing score remains valid for.
The first time limit: beating the exam clock
When you sit down for the CPA Exam, youll see a small countdown clock in the top-left corner of your screen.
Once you are through the five-minute introductory screens, your exam will begin and the timer will begin to countdown from four hours. This countdown will be one of your greatest enemies during the exam. You have to really manage your time well if you want to finish within the allotted time and pass the exam.
The longest exam, REG, has 76 MCQs and 8 TBSs, and the shortest, BEC, has 62 MCQs, 4 TBSs, and 3 WCs.
Your task is to answer each of these questions to the best of your ability. But having a time limit means youll need to prioritize answering every question over scrutinizing each question individually.
To make matters worse, during the CPA Exam, you will not be able to return to testlets once you have completed them. It is vital to plan your time in each testlet because any extra time you have at the end of the exam is wasted.
THE SOLUTION
Because the CPA Exams time limit is not divided between testlets for you, it is important to plan your test time before you sit for the exam.

Repeating The Bar Exam
A lot of people will have to take the bar exam more than once. Understanding that the bar exam is one of the hardest exams is essential. Its a two-day experience that determines whether or not youre going to be a lawyer.
With abysmal passing rates, dont be hard on yourself if you fail the first time. The good news is that once youve taken it, you know what to expect the second time, and youll have more to focus on with test preparation and tutors.
Many students want to pass the bar exam on their first try, which is understandable. The bar exam becomes the last stepping stone in a long journey of becoming a lawyer. While many students need to pass the exam quickly, rushing isnt always the answer. Take your time, keep anxiety levels down, and familiarize yourself with your states bar exam limitations.
There are plenty of states that allow you to take the bar exam as many times as you need. Only twenty-one states and territories have limitations, and some of those limitations are discretionary. Can You Take The Bar Exam Multiple Times
The short answer is that it depends on the jurisdiction. It is important to understand the state requirements for the bar exam and how many attempts they allow, so law students can form better studying strategies according to their own capabilities.
There are instances in which law students are prohibited from retaking the exam and require special permission to do so. Knowing this information early on is important, especially for those students who may have already been unsuccessful in passing the exam.
It is important to realize that if you have already taken the exam 2 or 3 times in your jurisdiction, you should be as prepared as possible before you give another attempt.
However, in certain states, the bar exam can be taken an unlimited number of times. Law students in these states have the privilege of giving as many attempts as possible and perhaps even take an exam to assess their abilities, get a feel for the testing format, and get over the initial intimidation of sitting for an important exam.
Each state employs one of the three strategies mentioned below in terms of their approach towards the bar exam:
