What Is A Certified Nursing Assistant Exam
The CNA exam is a certification test for those who wish to become a certified nursing assistant. The CNA exam will consist of two parts: a written portion and a clinical skills test. The written test is intended to measure a candidate’s mastery of nursing assistant knowledge and skills. The test consists of 60 multiple choice questions, with 90 minutes to complete them. The clinical skills test requires candidates to perform nursing tasks in front of an evaluator. You’ll be asked to demonstrate five duties in 30 minutes.

What Score Do I Need To Pass The Cna Exam
The score youll need to pass will vary by the state where you are getting certified . Most commonly a score of 80% or higher is needed on the written knowledge portion examination, though some states only require 70 or 75%.
On the CNA skills test , all critical functions must be completed correctly or the student will fail. Every state will test on handwashing due to its importance in infection control, so be certain you have that skill mastered. Other common elements include recording measurements and indirect care relating to a patients comfort and safety.

What To Expect On Test Day
Taking the CNA exam can be nerve-wracking, but it always helps when you know what to expect before you arrive on exam day. The best way to do this is to contact your testing site and inquire about what time you should arrive and what materials are necessary for you to bring. You should get a good nights sleep and eat a nutritious meal before leaving for the testing site.
Taking both the written portion and the clinical skills portion of the exam may take several hours, so you should be prepared to remain at the testing location for that duration. Its also a great idea to arrive early so that you have sufficient time to register.

What Is The Cna Exam
In 1987, Congress adopted the Nursing Home Reform Act which was intended to improve the quality of care in long-term care facilities. One of the major components of the act was to define training and evaluation standards for nursing assistants who work in nursing homes. Each state is responsible for running nursing aide programs that meet these federal standards.
Every state administers a CNA certification exam which consists of a written/knowledge test and a skills evaluation. Most states work with a third-party test administrator to manage the examination process. The three largest CNA exam providers are: NNAAP/Pearson Vue, Prometric, and HDMaster.

Its Test Day What Do I Need To Know
Youll need to bring government issued ID but check with our state to see if it has any other identification requirements. You probably wont be able to bring in personal items like heavy coats and electronics like cellphones and tablets into the testing room. You should arrive at the test at least 30 minutes before the start of the exam.

On the day of your test, your skills test will include the top two required skills as well as three others from the list below.
- Ambulate the resident using a transfer/gait belt
- Assist resident needing to use a bedpan
- Change bed linen while the resident remains in bed
- Change residents position to a supported side-lying position
- Dress a resident who has a weak arm
- Empty contents of residents urinary drainage bag, and measure and record urine output on an Intake and Output form

Certified Nursing Assistant Test Information
A Certified Nursing Assistant, commonly referred to as a CNA, provides basic care services to patients in hospitals of nursing homes. Many healthcare tasks are performed by CNAs including the following:
- Taking the vital signs of patients
- Helping feed the patients
- Care and cleaning of patients
- Moving patients and transferring patients between beds and wheelchairs
- Helping patients dress and toilet
Each individual state regulates the education and certification of CNAs. CNAs are required to take mandatory education as well as complete a CNA certification exam. The best way to pass the exam is by studying with CNA practice tests.
The education consists of training on the basic principles of nursing and care of the elderly. CNAs also typically take clinicals to acquire specific skills that are necessary to do their job. Community colleges, trade schools, hospitals, and nursing homes may offer CNA classes.

Every state in the USA administers their own CNA certification exam. Usually it’s a two-part exam consisting of a written knowledge test and a skills evaluation. Depending on your state of residence, your CNA exam will likely be administered by one of the following third-party exam certification providers:
Are Testing Procedures The Same In Every State
No. States also require CNA candidates to accumulate a minimum number of training hours before becoming certified. Some states require the federally mandated minimum of 75 hours of training while others require more than 100 hours.
Its important to check with your state regulatory board and understand the certification requirements. Most states use the National Council Licensure Examination from the National Nurse Aide Assessment program.
There are fees to take the exam, and your state may require additional fees as well. For example, the NCLEX tests costs $200, and then states could charge a fee in addition to that.

What To Expect On The Cna Exam
Your CNA exam will have two parts: the written exam and the clinical skills test. The written part will test your knowledge of nursing concepts, while the clinical skills test requires you to perform several essential nursing tasks in front of an evaluator.
