More Than Just Vision Screening
Many of our patients undergo basic vision screening at the pharmacy or in school in Las Vegas and Summerlin. Make no mistake these evaluations of your visual acuity do not replace thorough eye exams performed by an eye doctor!
Vision screening generally involves having you read an eye chart at various distances. While it can detect your need for eyeglasses or contact lenses, it doesnt assess ocular health.
After Your Las Vegas Eye Exam
Once our eye doctor finishes with all the procedures, well meet with you to share the results. We are committed to keeping our patients informed and well answer all your questions with a smile!
If Dr. Yesnick prescribes vision correction or medical treatment, together we will discuss your lifestyle needs and visual expectations to decide upon the perfect solution. Learn more about What to Expect at your Eye Exam.

What Should I Bring To My Eye Exam
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your eye doctor if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
What Is The Difference Between An Eye Exam And A Vision Screening

A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!

How Much Does A Cheap Eye Exam Cost
Cheap eye exams vary in cost but are usually available for $100 or less. Cheap tends to equate to basic. If you have serious vision health concerns, seek a comprehensive exam.
Cheap eye exams are not recommended for people diagnosed with:
- Serious vision health issues
Eye exams are important for protecting your vision and for early diagnosis of other health concerns. Some basic eye exams can detect problems with heart health, stroke risk, and diabetes-related vision problems.
However, if you believe these issues are a concern for you, its best to set up routine checkups at a full-service eye health center.
Cheap eye exams are ideal for young people, do not suspect any eye health issues, and want to measure their visual acuity.
Free And Discounted Eye Exams For Adults
Do you come from a low-income family and cant afford basic eye care? Fortunately, financial assistance, lower-cost eye exams, and even free eye exams exist for those in need.

We Love To Hear From You
Let us know how your visiting experience was with us and you might just see it posted here!
My wife and I have recently moved to Las Vegas and are in the process of finding new medical professionals. Everything from reception to examination was good. Dr. Hsueh spent plenty of time with us and we did not feel rushed at all. Unfortunately our insurance messed us up, so we didn’t order new glasses as this time. Will update review once this happens.

Is A Contact Lens Exam Different Than An Eye Exam
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients . Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
Financial Help To Get Regular Eye Exams And Corrective Wear
After the passage of the Affordable Care Act , vision insurance was slowly phased in as one of the health care marketplaces options. However, oral and vision care are not considered essential health benefits for adults that standard health insurance must cover. Instead, the marketplace offers these types of insurance separately, with a tax credit as applicable based on income. For children, pediatric health insurance covers vision and dental care, as required by the ACA.
If you still cannot get vision insurance or missed the ACA application window, there are other options to get lower cost eye exams, financial aid for eye exams, and even free exams.
If inexpensive or low-cost eye exams are out of reach, the National Eye Institute maintains a list of organizations that provide free eye exams and, often, free glasses.
- Lions Club International offers a vision screening program.
- Older adults may qualify for Medicares vision screenings to prevent diabetes-related eye conditions, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.

Does Telehealth Services Work For Eye Exams
For the same reasons that online eye exams arent a good choice, telehealth services dont work for eye exams.
If you have early stages of several serious vision conditions, you may still be able to see well enough, or you may treat the condition like a refractive error, believing you simply need stronger glasses. While you may qualify for an updated prescription, a telehealth eye exam doesnt give the doctor the opportunity to fully examine your eyes and potentially detect concerning eye conditions or diseases.
Ultimately, self-diagnosis and telemedicine do not work as well for vision exams as they might for other conditions. So many eye conditions can be caught early and treated with routine exams.
Saving up and going in person to see an optometrist makes a huge difference. With the ACAs introduction of vision insurance to the health insurance marketplace, affordable insurance coverage can help reduce your costs for eye exams, new glasses, and more.
Are Free Eye Exams Worth It

There is no difference between eye exams you pay for and ones that are free. The standards for tests are the same, and either one should yield the same results.
Organizations and optometrists who participate in programs that offer free eye exams do so to ensure that everyone has access to basic and important eye care. Their goal is to give you the best possible care regardless of someones ability to pay.
If you or your children are eligible for free eye exams through any of these programs, doctors recommend you take advantage of them.

Reviews From Our Satisfied Patients
- “If I could give more stars I would! Aleida was assisting me in purchasing glasses and truly went above and beyond. We had been trying to get in all day somewhere for an appointment and ended up somewhere that didn’t have any frames that fit my face. We walked into advanced eye care with a prescription and they were warm and welcoming 🙂 They had a wide variety of Oakley frames and other name brands. Their prices are definitely good for the quality and Aleida was very understanding in helping us find exactly what we were looking for without pushing us past what we needed. Beyond amazing experience here! I’ll be recommending this eye care facility to everyone I know!!!”Halverson D. / Las Vegas, NV
