When Is The Right Time To Start Doing Practice Tests
You dont want to start doing practice tests too early, as youll just be wasting time taking tests on the material you havent covered yet. However, you also dont want to wait until the last minute, as this will leave you little time to review your results and study any topics you need to brush up on.
A good rule of thumb is to start doing practice tests when youre about halfway through your studies. This will give you enough time to cover most of the material and not feel completely lost when taking the tests.

Preparing For Your Certified Ethical Hacker Certification Assess Your Knowledge Of Topics On The Ceh Exam With These Practice Test Questions
Matt Walker, author of CEH Certified Ethical Hacker Practice Exams, Fourth Edition, published by McGraw Hill, warned readers in the book introduction, “CEH didn’t gain the reputation and value it has by being easy to attain.”
The EC-Council’s CEH is on the Department of Defense’s list of certifications suitable for Directive 8570 under DoDD 8140, which mandates certification for government employees who conduct information assurance tasks. As such, CEH has become one of the top certifications for technicians, Walker wrote.
The four-hour, 125-question “marathon,” as Walker called it, puts potential certification holders to the test. But, for those who put their mind to it and do well on the exam, he said it’s a meaningful addition to any security pro’s skill set, resume and email signature line.
Walker offered another note of caution to test takers, one which he reiterated in a recent interview with SearchSecurity: “If you want to pass this exam and have the respect and benefits that come along with holding the certification, then you damn well better know how to do the job.”
Memorization is not your friend, he said. Candidates should take the time to absorb the necessary knowledge to truly get the most possible out of the CEH exam and certification. The practice exam book shouldn’t be your first step, either, he added. Networking, finding an infosec mentor and self-studying are all important steps in the process.
Prerequisites And Additional Qualifications For The Ceh Exam
The PMP exam covers seven general subject areas with a multitude of individual skills within them. In addition to having knowledge of the skill areas listed below, applicants must have attended a training course approved by the EC-Council or have met requirements for self-study eligibility.
The five domains covered in the CEH are:
- Procedures and Methodology
- Regulation and Policy
CEH candidates are expected to have a working knowledge all seven areas.
CEH Exam Prerequisites
The PMI requires that candidates applying for a PMP credential attend an official training course approved by the EC-Council. If an official training course is attended, no other prerequisites must be met in order to take the exam.
If an individual seeking a CEH certification chooses to self-study or take the exam without attending an official training, they must meet this prerequisites before applying to take the CEH exam:

How Important Are Practice Tests
Practice tests provide an excellent way to study for the CEH exam. By taking a practice test, you can get an idea of what types of questions will be asked on the actual exam and gauge your understanding of the material. Additionally, by taking multiple practice tests, you can identify which topics you need to focus on studying more.
One important caveat is that not all practice tests are created equal. Some providers create their questions based on past CEH exam questions, while others make up their own questions. It is important to make sure youre using quality practice tests to be confident youre studying the right material.
The practice tests you find online for free may not be of the same quality as the ones you would get from a paid provider. Stay away from ad-filled websites that try to get you to take a free CEH practice test but only end up providing you with a few questions. These websites are not likely to be reputable and may even contain malware.
Make sure that you ask people who have already taken the CEH exam for recommendations on practice tests. Study groups are also a great resource for finding quality practice tests.
