Top Real Estate Exam Tips For Test Day
After spending countless hours studying and preparing for your real estate license exam, its time to put your knowledge to the test. Like any big test, the days leading up to the exam will be daunting.
This is especially true when it comes to the real estate exam, which covers a wide variety of topics, from terminology to state-specific regulations. As your exam day approaches, its important to get as much advice as possible on test-taking tips and preparation.
With that said, here are some of the best tips to help you ace your real estate exam and start a prosperous career as a real estate agent.
Tip #: Get Rest Before The Real Estate Exam
This is the funnest tip! Once you finish your study session, it is extremely important that you decompress.
Time to relax!
Whether itâs going out for a walk to catch some fresh air or snoozing on the couch, taking time to relax will help destress and stay collected.
Too much studying leaves you stressed â you have to let that out!
The most important time to rest is the night before the actual state exams. The last thing you want to do before the night of the exams is to stay up late. Sleep deprivation leads to unfocused attention, foggy memory, and sedated enthusiasm to ace the exam.
Sleep allows your mind to stay sharp and efficient. This will help you to feel refreshed the morning of the real estate exam.
Tip #: Challenge Yourself
We all have that one subject we struggle with the most.
Donât just hope that it wonât appear on the real estate exam. Instead, challenge yourself to understand and master it.
Once you finish studying all the areas, circle back to the area that you struggled with the most. Donât be eager to dismiss and reject this area.
The best thing that you can do is to dissect this subject and hone in on the topics you do not fully understand.
After selecting those topics, take the time and have the patience to go through them again.
Yes, it may take some time. But, it will be worth it.

Answering Questions On The State Exam
We recommend you plan to go through the exam three times:
First, answer those slam-dunk questions you know without hesitation
Go back and answer those that require minimal analysis or thinking.
Finally go back and work on those remaining questions that appear brain-damaging.This technique gives you two advantages. First it builds your confidence by reassuring you on the first time through that you really do know a few things–and it will help you focus and organize all the information you have stored. Second, it assures you don’t waste too much time up front on hard questions and wind up in a time crunch at the end of the exam.
You may find one or two ‘scenario’ type questions on the exam. These scenarios will give you a lot of information. Read the question a couple of times prior to reading the scenario. You may find it helpful to ‘mark’ these questions so that you can read and answer them at the same time. *Remember to unmark them once you have answered them.*
Always read the whole question and all potential answer choices CAREFULLY before making your final selection! What seems like the correct answer at first glance may be superseded by a better one with a closer look.
If you are stumped, try to eliminate wrong answers one at a time to narrow your choices.
On math questions try working backwards from each answer to the question.
If you are still clueless, here are some rules for guessing:
Longer answers might be a better choice than shorter answers

Simple Tips For Passing The Texas Real Estate Exam
The population in Austin is exploding.
For a number of factors: Inflation rates, the prestigious University of Texas at Austin, breakfast tacos, the booming tech sector, and numerous other reasons. Austin is the fastest growing city in the United States.
This means that now is a good a time as any to consider a career as a Texas Real Estate Salesperson. If Real Estate sales or leasing in Texas has ever interested you, then I invite you to keep reading.
I learned a lot in my first year as a Real Estate agent in Austin. And I’d like to pass along some of that knowledge. And I’d like to begin with some advice regarding the very first step in the whole process of earning your license: The Real Estate Salesperson Exam. Here are:
My 3 Tips For Passing The Real Estate Exam On Your First Try:
1. Read the Material
Before you are even able to take the Exam, you must first meet certain education requirements set forth by the Texas Real Estate Commission—the body that governs Real Estate practice in the state of Texas.
Every Texas Real Estate Agent must complete the following courses:
In order to register with TREC for the Real Estate Salesperson exam, you must complete all of the educational requirements and show your certificates of completion.
What I recommend, however, is to not do that.
2. Conquer Test Anxiety
3. Use Process of Elimination
Good luck!
Review Whats On The Exam
Take a few minutes to review whats on the actual real estate exam. If you were a student of ours, this is outlined for you in your Principles book. Merely having a basic understanding of whats on the exam can calm a lot of fears for students.
The state publishes a percentage breakdown of topics that are tested and our real estate exam preparation website is tailored so the questions are in the same ratio that the government exam is. This way there are no surprises on test day.
Tip #: Dont Overstudy For The Real Estate Exam
Overdoing it will lead to burnout. Keeping your study sessions short is important. We recommend spending around 2 hours in a given study block.
If you study for long hours, youâre prone to fatigue and frustration. Once you overdo your study sessions, you may not be able to absorb all the information youâre reading.
Overexertion is a big contributor to burnout. Once you hit the burnout zone, the idea alone will seem exhausting.
Remember to conduct your study session in short intervals to focus, digest, and absorb.
This goes back to creating a study schedule. Two-hour study sessions combined with a daily or alternating daily schedule is a great way to keep a steady, productive moment when studying for the real estate exam.
